Job Description:
Non-benefited MCCC grant-funded position
The North Shore Community College Adult Learning Center (ALC) seeks an IT Instructor to join the MassSTEP team for (2) 20-week student cohorts between September 2022 and June 2023.
The PT position is for 15 hours per week for a maximum of 44 weeks; Onsite teaching occurs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 to 12 on the NSCC Danvers campus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach the essential skills/information to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize
- and perform preventative maintenance of basic PCs, digital devices and operating systems
- Prepare students for the CompTIA Fundamentals certification examination
- Instruct students on the use of Office 365 and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
- Instruct students on CyberSafe with certification and Help Desk Analyst
- Prepare course syllabi, proctor and grade course assignments as scheduled, report final student
- grades, and complete student alerts as needed
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize learning and measure student outcomes
- Work in collaboration with the MassSTEP Program Coordinator & HiSET Instructor on integrated
- contextualized curriculum content and student success
- Attend required MassSTEP team meetings via Zoom and/or onsite at the NSCC Danvers campus
- Provide one-on-one and/or group tutoring for additional instructional support
- Report regularly to the ALC Coordinator with student concerns and classroom needs
- Commit to the ALC’s culture of individual and program continuous improvement
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Coordinator of the Adult Learning Center
Requirements:
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or Instructional Technology; with two (2) years experience and/or training that includes computer operating systems, hardware/software installation/troubleshooting, and network systems administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
- CompTIA and Cisco certifications preferred
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience with adult learners, higher education or high school; community college teaching experience preferred
- Evidence of commitment to and experience working with a culturally and socioeconomic diverse student body
- Mastery of remote learning platforms, such as Zoom or Google Classroom
- Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork
- Patience and flexibility with students and instructional practices
- Candidates for employment are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID; initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccinated status record. Details of how to fulfill the vaccine record verification requirement will be provided during the hiring and onboarding process.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
Additional Information:
SALARY: $60.00 per hour. Non-benefited, grant-funded position.
