CE or not CE, that is the question.

I just received a 90 Day Reminder Regarding your CompTIA Certification email letting me know that I needed to complete certification hours or retest for one of my certifications.

Having attended so many wonderful TTT and reaping the rewards, I was not sure which Certification it was applying to so I had to go look. Turns out it was my Cloud+ ce certification. It also says N / A under continuing education.

Here is my question (though I think I know the answer): Even though it says "ce" after its name, this is one of the certifications that the only way to renew is to retest on that exam?

Linux+ is the other one on my list. I just successfully retested my CySA+ ce and it renewed some of the others, but not those, which is why I am certain I know the answer already. I am just confused I guess about the "ce" labeling. Now that I think about it, it is probably just to indicate it expires.

CySA+ Academic Faculty Effort

First of all, the hope is 2021 will be better for all of us. Having spent the California imposed 180-day mandatory 180-day post-retirement sabbatical, I am returning to the classroom for the Spring semester, teaching a CySA+ class for one of our community colleges. The challenge for this course is it is being taught online, and content must be ADA compliant (that includes videos). To lessen the workload, I've championed an effort to attract faculty from other colleges to "share" the workload as it relates to content development. There are currently three of us working on this effort. We are all using the Chapple textbook. A key to this choice is our students have access to LinkedIn learning, allowing the use of author-created videos that are ADA compliant.

If any of you are teaching this course for the Spring semester and want to join us in this effort, let me know (email: [email protected]). Creatively my hope is we can spread the workload.

Piggybacking Certifications

Wow, with just $$ I can double my A+, Network+, and Security+ related certifications.
https://www.eta-i.org/information_technology.html

I provide this information with two questions in mind:

Does this action by the ETA increase or decrease the value of these CompTIA certifications?

Does this action by the ETA decrease the value of certifications in general?

Thoughts?

Time to increase your computer science electronic bookshelf holdings. For Christmas I've arranged for you to get a library of Kindle ebooks. Order the ebooks quickly as I'm not sure how long they will be available for free.
